Yesterday Gaslight Anthem had their first show in Germany for this tour and we drove to Cologne. Pretty easy decision as Chuck Ragan was one of the supporters and he alone would have been worth the trip.
Due to traffic jam we were too late for the Sharks (I only heard one or two songs of them) but right in time for Chuck who was accompanied by his violin player. It was a little bit strange when he entered the stage without his beard but I got used to it throughout his set.
Finally Gaslight Anthem entered the stage and they proved again that they’re an awesome live band. The seemed to enjoy the evening and played a two hour set. I’ll provide the setlist if it should turn up somewhere.
For my personal pleasure they played a very good mix of all releases and only like 4 or 5 songs from the new record. This may have been a problem for the part of the audience that only knew the new stuff (unbelievably I really met people only know „American Slang“.
I didn’t drop by the merchandise yesterday, but as I’ll see them again on 11th November I’ll do that for sure, not only to check out the Gaslight Anthem merch but the Chuck Ragan stuff as well (or I hope he has brought some T-Shirts with him)
